This boycott was kicked off with a march on the Manchester Hyatt on Friday, July 18th from 1pm-2pm. The march was organized by a group called Californians Against Hate and UNITE HERE Local 30. The march on the Manchester Hyatt inspired a counter protest, with supporters of an initiative that seeks to ban same-sex marriage in California rallying directly in front of the hotel. Local 26, which represents 350 Aramark workers at the 2 facilities, had called a boycott of Aramark at those locations earlier this year. Aramark and Local 26 had been negotiating a new contract since September of 2007, but on June 21, Local 26 members began a 3 day strike that ended on June 23.
